Lakhs of students apply to appear for the RBI Grade B exams every year. However, there are very few vacancies for the Grade B officer position. Hence, the difficulty level of clearing this exam rises every year. The tough competition also demands numerous attempts to qualify as a Grade B officer. Let’s discuss here how RBI Grade B cut off is applied to various stages and how candidates shortlisted for the officer post.

What does the RBI Grade B cut-off mean?

The cut-off of an examination refers to the marks scored by the final candidate who qualifies to the next level. Hence, the cut-off of the Grade B Prelims refers to the mark scored by the last candidate who qualified for the Mains. Moreover, you need to score more than the total and sectional cut-offs of the Prelims to qualify to the Mains.

Overall cut-off refers to the minimum marks in the exam, on the whole, to qualify further. Likewise, sectional cut-off refers to the marks you need to score in each section to qualify. Also, if a candidate scores the overall cut-off but not the sectional cut-offs, he/she will not move to the next level of selection. However, there is no cut-off for the Interview round. For the Grade B exams that were held in multiple shifts, RBI uses the normalization process to calculate the final cut-off.

What factors affect the cut-off of the RBI Grade B exam?

The cut-off applied in the Grade B exam is not a constant figure. It keeps varying in every phase of the exam. Various factors influence the cut-off of the exam. Listed below are the most important of them:
